The Richland County Fair Committee is trying to create the best possible scenario for this year’s fair in light of high water, saturated grounds, and the possibility of more flooding today thanks to heavy rains last night and early this morning. Fair officials have made the following decisions:
First, there will be NO animal exhibits checked in today. A revised scheduled will be announced at a later time here on WRCO and the Fair Facebook page. When that will be will be dependent on the weather, receding flood waters, and the condition of the grounds.
Second, the extremely saturated ground has forced the fair committee to cancel the carnival. It would be impossible to safely set up rides and just as difficult to maintain them even if the trucks could enter and exit the fairgrounds.
Third, all grandstand events are canceled for this year’s fair.
Be listening and watching for the release of a revised schedule for animal project check-in. Once that schedule is determined, officials will then look at how judging can be scheduled and accomplished.
